Right to Read Documentary Screening

The Henderson Memorial Public Library is proud to host a special ONE TIME ONLY screening of the award-winning documentary, The Right to Read, by executive producer LaVar Burton.

Intended Audience: parents, educators k-12, literacy advocates

The Right to Read documentary exposes the nation's literacy crisis by unveiling the truth about the problems causing it, and what some educators have begun to do to fix the problems. This is an issue that affects everyone, including Ashtabula County, Ohio.

There will be a Q&A session following the 80-minute documentary to inspire conversation among participants and to discuss other upcoming literacy events and opportunities.

Panel Facilitators include:

Karen Sly: Wilson Dyslexia Therapist/ Jefferson Area Local Schools Intervention Specialist and Structured Literacy Coach

Ben Schade: Director of Student Services for Pymatuning Valley Local Schools

Lisa Ebersole: Parent Mentor for Ashtabula County/ Community Liaison for Building Bridges and Happy Hearts/ parent of a child with dyslexia

Neil Meloro: School Psychologist for Jefferson Area Local Schools
